For connected bodies, if the string joining them is EXTENSIBLE, how would the motion of the bodies be affected? Say, what would happend if we pull one of them?

If the string joinging the two bodies is stretchable (extensible), the string is said to be a spring.

The body attaced to a spring will vibrate in a harmonic motion if the string is pulled and released. The vibration is a simple harmonic motion described as a sine (or cosine) function.

In that case, the motion of the two objects, I believe, will vary with the amount of friction between the objects and the floor. The stronger the friction, the stronger force is needed to move the objects by force. If one side of the string is pulled, it will, as you may guess, extend. When the tension of the string is too great, the object will be moved.
