1.HK will look to other jurisdictions such as UK and Australia ___ which we have
strong links.
2.Reforms should proceed at a pace ___ which the wide community is comfortable.

both must be with,,,
For 1: if use with because "with strong links", so
for 2: why use with? i don't know how to rearrange the sentence to understand the structure... can it be in which?

very confused even i read many examples....

thanks!!

其實兩句都有一個字句被加入主句中,你有冇諗過係乜野?畀五秒自己諗下...

1.We have strong links with UK and Australia.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
2.The wide community is comfortable with that pace.
^^^^^^^^^^^

見到未?當子句加入主句,而被 which/who 代替o個個詞語變身移左去子句最前時(即 which the wide community is comfortable with),有時會剩低個 preposition o係最後。有d人覺得 preposition 放最後令句子好醜樣,所以將 preposition 放到 which/who 之前。

所以,呢d情況唔知用乜野 preposition 時,先睇番子句係乜。1.用其他地方連繫梗係 with 啦;2.要識 comfortable with something。咁咪搞掂囉~

唔記得左出唔到連續o既space...兩句子句我想 underline o既係:1.UK and Australia2.that pace都係被 which 取代

You have to identify the object to which the preposition is
attached.
In sentence ( 2 ), it's "a pace."

i.e. the wide community is comfortable X a pace....

Therefore, the obvious choice is "comfortable with."
i.e. a pace which the wide community is comfortable with
= a pace with which the wide community is comfortable ( formal )

Likewise, in sentence ( 1 ),
look for the object onto which the preposition after "strong
link" clings:
It's "UK and Australia"
i.e. strong links WITH UK and Australia

Putting back everything into the sentence:
...such as UK and Australia which we have strong links with.
= ...such as UK and Australia with which we have strong links. ( formal )

Hope this helps.
