1.Economics has( ever )been known as a gloomy science. ( Wrong)
2.Economics has( long )been known as a gloomy science. (Correct)

The first one is my choice.
But the correct answer is the second one.
Why?
Are there any grammatical mistakes or else for the first one?

如 : have u ever been to? have u ever tried?

If you ever see George, give him my kind regards.
She was happier than she had ever been.
He is one of the very best men I have ever met.
No such person ever existed.
Have you ever been to London?
He is ever ready to help you.
Who ever can it be?
What ever put that idea in your head?
Was she ever tired!

去說明意思, 若轉變成問句便可用ever, Has Economics ever been known as a gloomy science?

I hope it can slightly help u, maybe some other people here can express more explanation to prove Ans. 2 is correct :-)
