I'm a huge fans of them. of coz i no sth about them. All the members except Michael Guy Chislett, the lead guitarist, ( who is an Australia but currently resides in LA) are from the suburbs of Chicago like Fall Out Boys. They don't really catergorize their music but is seen as alternative/ indie rock. Their new album SANTI is released on April 3 (but sorry, you can hardly find it in hk) and according to William Beckett, the lead singer, SANTI is actually a name of a guy whom he used to go to high school with. That guy mocked at Will and his bandmates saying that they'll never gonna make it in music. So naming the album SANTI is a kind of fight -back or like they said "a greeting to that guy" coz they're doing great in music now. actually, you can find a lot of info online like wikipedia and their official website: www.theacademyis.com

Here's some basic info:

The Academy Is…(William Beckett, Michael Carden,Adam T. Siska, Andy Mrotek,
Michael Guy Chislett) a rock band based in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. They were originally known as "The Academy", but added the "Is..." in 2004, to avoid legal complications with other established bands already going under that name. They are currently signed to Atlantic Records and is under Fuled by Ramen. Currently they're touring in the UK and is going back to USA for the lineup show Honda Civic Tour 2007, together with Fall out boy, +44 etc.

I know them for 3 years :) before they were signed to major label. They are gonna release a new album. But it seems they are going down :(
