If you want to make rune out of rune essence (Runecrafting), you will have to complete Rune Mystries Quest first. To start Runecrafting, you will need rune essence and an Air Talisman to craft Air Rune (lvl1 Runecrafting can only craft Air Rune). Have your rune essence and Air Talisman (or Air Tiara), go to Falador, go south, there is a big rock in the middle of the grass and some "ruined pillars", use Air Talisman ---> Mysterious Ruins. You can go into the Air Altar. Use your Rune Essence ---> Altar (Or just click on the Altar), get your Air Rune, then step out the portal.

eg:if u want to craft air runes,get an air tailsman(or air tiara) and some ess.Then go to altar,use tailsman with ruin.
