"The unicorn (from Latin unus 'one' and cornus 'horn') is a legendary creature whose power is exceeded only by its mystery. The unicorn is a horse-type animal with a single horn. Though the modern popular image of the unicorn is sometimes that of a horse differing only in the horn on its forehead, the traditional unicorn has a billy-goat beard, a lion's tail, and cloven hooves, which distinguish him from a horse.[1] Marianna Mayer has observed (The Unicorn and the Lake), "The unicorn is the only fabulous beast that does not seem to have been conceived out of human fears. In even the earliest references he is fierce yet good, selfless yet solitary, but always mysteriously beautiful. He could be captured only by unfair means, and his single horn was said to neutralize poison."
Yes, actually they are.
However, the unicorns that we know today (the pretty white ones with a pure horn that seem to prance in meadows) do not exist. Back in Biblical times unicorns did exist. They were a two horned wild ox that once lived in Syria. This ox is now extinct. It's scientific name is Bos primigenius, and, sadly, it does have two horns.
Therefore both you and your grandmother are correct. The unicorn that is common today is simply a fairy tale. However, at one point there was an animal that was called a unicorn.

Your grandma. There are no unicorns. There is also no Santa Claus, no Easter Bunny, no fairies, and no god. Sorry to dissapoint, but eventually you have to face reality.

Unicorns are real. I fact I have bred a unicorn and I ride it everyday. It goes on well with my pet dragon, who is the resident cook in the family. Oh, and did I tell you about my dodo?

Who knows if your Unicorns are hiding somewhere on this planet or not? No one. Keep believing what ever you want - you may get the last laugh ;)

Depends on what reality you live in!

They are definitely real. Well there extinct. Why is it so weird for a horse to have a horn and it isn't weird for a whale to have one? A narwhale.
NK sure thinks so, they claim to have fossils
they are probably not
but all peole have to do is take a horn and attach it on to a white horse.
ITS POSSIBLE!!!!
You are both right. Unicorns are extinct. They were all murdered by men.
there is no good answer to this question. any answer is an opionion. i beleive that they ONCE lived but i cant be sure. i highly encourage you do some research!
RHINOS EXIST AND THEY HAVE ONE HORN IN THEIR FOREHEAD IF YOU ELIMINATE THE PRETTY WHITE HORSE WITH A HORN IN THE MIDDLE OF IT'S FOREHEAD AND REPLACE IT WITH A GREY OR WHITE HERBIVORE WITH A NASTY REPUTATION AND A GREAT SIZE YOU HAVE YOUR CANDIDATE FOR UNICORN IN AFRICA IF THEY ARE NOT EXTINCT YOU COULD SAY UNICORNS EXIST STILL TODAY

Well, if you want to get technical.....
The word "unicorn" means 'one horn'. So, if there was a cow, for example, with only one horn you could call it a unicorn for that reason. In this case, yes they can exist...
But if you are really refering to the mytical magical horse with a single, straight horn growing from it;s forhead, then no... they are only mythical - not real.
unicorns are just a horse with a horn on its head whats so great about that? you know narwhals DO exist and they are like a whale with a unicorn horn on its head
Common now. Horses are real. Add a horn to it or add a set of wings to it and call it something else.
no people found out that unicorn horns were form narwhales
No they are not real but they exist in our world of make believe.
Nah, theyre not real.
I wish they were too though.
I'm pretty sure they're not real. I wish they were though.
You have to put the pipe down now, it's getting serious. Try and remember the fried egg commercial, unicorns are not real and alcohol does not preserve you. Babydove seemed like such a nice name too......

Your Grandma is right.
Theyre as real as the tooth fairy
i hate to break it to you, but no. The Far Side comic strip says that the two unicorns on Noah's arc were eaten by lions, making them extinct, but i doubt there were unicorns before the flood, either.
I am sorry, but unicorn probably is an legendary creature.
