It is extremely cheap to eat in Malaysia, even cheaper than Shenzhen in some cases.

If you dont go to upscale restaurant, go to roadside Mamak store (Indian Muslim) or Chinese food court (like those in Singapore), then you can aim for less than RM10/meal/person (incl.drinks+dessert).

I once had a mix rice for RM3.50 in KL (incl. soup)! Black sesame "tong shui" only RM1!

Shopping in Malaysia is generally cheaper than HK. Imported goods are generally more expensive than HK. Local produced goods are cheap, but of course not as cheap as "Made in China".

Transport is cheap there too. Getting around the country is not expensive. Aim not to use taxis, because taxi drivers mostly refuse to use meters, unlike Bangkok or Singapore. I think it is because the government set the taxi rate too low, so that they prefer bargaining with customer, so know the normal price before you board a taxi.
