When people look for a job, they really want to know the prospect of the job and how they could get more, move up the corporate ladder, etc.

That's why a lot of people are going for insurance or broker sales, even though there is little or no minimum and have a quota. They can use it to at least get into the financial service field.

In your case, since you already have ten years of experience, the experience you have more or less determine how other companies view you. It also depends on what industry you work for, and what achievements do you have in the past ten years. If you have not been promoted within ten years then it might be a problem (maybe it is the company's problem, but it will reflect on you as you why you stay with the same company who chose not to promote you).

One piece of advice is to study and/or change jobs. It will give you a new perspective on things.
