Push factos = 推因素
Definition 定義:
- factors that drive people away from a place. (驅使人們離開一個地方的因素)
Some examples of Push factors 幾個推因素的例子:
poverty貧窮, poor hygiene 衛生差, over-crowded 擠迫

Pull factors = 拉因素
Definition 定義:
- factors that draw people to a new location. (吸引人們來到一個新地方的因素)
Some examples of Pull factors 幾個拉因素的例子:
good living standard 生活質素好, less poluted 較少污染, good hygiene 衛生好

In our society, everybody needs to make choice. In geography, we like to study on space/ location. When people need to choose a place for doing something (such as living, working or investing), we need to consider the cost and benefit, which is called locational strategy.
In locational strategy, push factor means the unfavourable things that encourage people to leave their original place (e.g., in village area, people want to leave because of the poverty and low living standard); in contrast, pull factor means the favourable things that attract people to come that new place, for example, people like to migrate to more developed countries due to a better living standard.
The reasons of these two cases are push/ pull factor.
