a)Explain why iron body is coated with tin.

b)Suggest another possible method to prevent the rusting of iron.

c)Give one reason why aluminium, rather than iron, is used for making the top of the can and the ring-pull.

d)Give two advantages and two disadvantages of using aluminium cans for the storage of fruit juice. Suggest two more materials other than metals that can be used for storage of fruit juice.

That's f4 chemistry, right? ^^

a) As you know iron is a quite reactive metal, it rusts easily in the present of water and oxygen. The tin coating can act as a protective layer to keeps air and water away from the surface of iron, and thus the can will not rust.

b) There're many methods such as, painting, oiling, plastic covering, electrical protection (connect the metal with the negative pole of batteries) and sacrificil protection to prevent the rusting of iron.

c) Aluminium is more dutile than iron, hence people can bend the top of the can when openig.

d) Advantages: i. light. ii resistant to corrosion
Disadvantages: i quite expensive. ii high cost to extracte
The 2 materials can be plastic or glass
