Most of the Stanley residents are Caucasians. Therefore, one can find tons of European-style restaurants and bay-side bars. Beginning of the 20th century, many western-style restaurants were opened targeting upper-class Chinese. As a matter of fact, bars and pubs were starting up in 蘭桂坊(Central) and 駱克道及謝斐道(Wanchai) at the early stage, and they were expanding to 廣東道、諾士佛台、寶勒巷(尖沙咀), 尖沙咀East, Mongkok and Prince Edward, even up to 大埔. One can feel the multicultural atmosphere from the decorations and the beers sold in these bars and pubs. Since Hong Kong was a British colony, a majority of these bars are either British or Irish. British bars are characterized by less seats; Irish coffee is being served in Irish pubs; American bars are more contemporary. Most of the people who visit the bars in Central, Wanchai, and TST are non-locals and locals who have lived abroad, while the locals go to the ones in MongKok and Prince Edward area.
