a)discuss applications of electromagnetic waves such us radio waves, microwaves,infra-red rays,visible light,ultraviolet rays,X-rays and gamma rays.
b)describe the detrimental effects of exposure to certain components of the electromegnetic spectrum.

Radio: communication
Microwave: microwave oven, weather radars
IR: heater
visible: for lighting
UV: kills germs, produce sun tan and vitamin E in human bodies
X-rays: x-ray picture for medical diagnosis
gamma: kill cancer cells

(b)
uv,x,gamma are high energy radiations. They can cause cancer to human over long time exposure
Strong intensity of visible light can blind oneself
Strong intensity of IR can burn our skins
Strong microwave... think about leaving body parts inside a microwave oven!
Radio waves... hazard to human is not proved for the moment. Cautions have been given on use of cellphones!
