As your external DVD is DVD±RW version. it can burn the following type of disk

DVD-R
DVD-RW
DVD+R
DVD+RW
CD-R
CD-RW

However, for DVD+R DL and DVD-ROM, it much check with the specification.

You may burn the CD in any format of the disk you want.
