was going to (do something)
We were going to travel by train ,but then we decided to go by car instead.

有冇i were going to be a teacher , in the end i succeeded.

i am going to be a teacher,finally i succeeded 點解用am唔用were?

Yes... such as
I planned to become a teacher and I did; unlike sarah whom planned on becoming a pilot but then gave up after 3 months.

係有...不過唔係用was going to (do something)
應該係i am going to be a teacher, finally i succeeded
