The Philosophy of Nissin Foods

Nissin Foods was established in 1948 by the visionary Mr Momofuku Ando who foresaw the rise of the fast-paced modern lifestyle in our post war society. Our daily habits were being streamlined for speed and efficiency, and that included our eating habits. Based on this, he founded Nissin Foods and put his heart and soul into developing the instant food industry.

Through innovation and the continuous search for excellence, the delicious taste of Nissin Foods was quickly accepted by consumers all over the world.

Nissin Foods is still the No.1 manufacturer of instant food in Japan and is gaining huge popularity overseas. Mr Momofuku Ando can truly be called a great man in the food industry, as he brings great tastes to the world!

The oldest and largest manufacturer of instant food in Japan
Introduced the world's first instant noodle "Chicken Ramen" in 1958
Introduced the first instant noodle with seasoning pack, "Nissin Yakisoba" in 1963
Established their most popular brand " Demae Ramen" in 1968
Manufactured the world's first cup noodle in 1971
Introduced the cup rice in 1974
Introduced the instant bowl noodle with garnishes in 1976
Launched the first series of microwave oven readied products in 1986
In 1988, the Hong Kong subsidiary successfully developed the "Retort Pouch" series of products.
Other History

Nissin Foods is now a household name not only in Japan, but also in Asia and around the world. The confidence the brand gives to its customers can be reflected in its market share. By 1989, "Cup Noodle" had already gained 70% of the Cup Noodle market in the US!

To explore the full potential of the overseas market, Nissin has set up manufacturing plants in different parts of the world to create taste cater for different local markets. For example, the cheese-favoured noodles are a huge success in the US!

In The World:

The first overseas plant was set up in Los Angeles in 1970.
Over the next thirty years, 15 other manufacturing plants were established in Thailand, the Philippines, India, China, Brazil and Hong Kong.
In Hong Kong:

On December 20, 1985 a new plant was opened in Taipo, Hong Kong. It is Nissin's fifth overseas plant after the ones in the US and Brazil.
It is a 2-storied building with a floor area of more than 100,000 sq. ft.
Nissin Foods has the highest requirement for the quality of its products. The best ingredients are selected to be manufactured at lightning speed at the fully automated plant.
Recent Development:

Nissin Foods has never stopped its work on research and development. A Central Research Laboratory was set up in Japan in 1988 to develop new products according to the latest consumer needs.
Many resources have also been invested on biotechnology to improve the nutritional value of its products. To produce healthy foods for people to enjoy is the aim of Nissin Foods.
