Fifth Form students tend to have many adolescent problems. To name two:
1) Depression 抑鬱症
Late teens tend to have a problem with communication. They find the elders difficult to talk to, hardly find listeners, no one can understand them. If it remains unsolved, they tend to distance themselves from family, creates tension.
Parents or elder members in the family should pay more attention in the children's life. Find common topics and create more chances in having a day out as a family.
2) Insecurity
Fifth form students not only find it stressful in sitting examinations, but some find it even more stressful as their future remains uncertain. They don't know what to do when they leave school. Lack of work experience and exposure to the world, makes the fifth formers insecure about facing the working environment.
Schools should provide career talk sessions, parents can encourage children to explore the world and give them opportunities to visit other places (e.g. work placement, inter-school visits).
