RU486只能作為懷孕初期的流產。（如何計算懷孕時間長度？醫生計算懷孕時間是從最後一次月經（LMP）的第一天起，也就是說，約受孕兩週前。所以“LMP後的49天”指的是受孕後的五週。）但懷孕九週的婦女只有77%可以達到完全的流產。
