Anorexia
The Chinese translation of anorexia may be interpreted as "loss of desire for food". But in reality, such eating disorder is behavioural rather than physiologicl, as patients are found to force themselves to eat less though their bodies still have the desire for food.
Statistics
Anorexia nervosa, a psychiatric disorder, is most commonly found in teenagers, with 1 case out of every 150 girls inthe age of about 15. More cases are found among girls from white-collar family background than those from working class. In some cases, family members of a patient also develop symptoms of eating disorder. In an increasingly affluent community, where slim body figure is desired and diet is encouraged, cases of anorexia are on the rise.
Cause
Many patients of anorexia disorder are also teenagers who are under the stresses relating to growing up, family matters, or social pressure. It is also argued that the disorder has something to do with hormonal disorder.
Most of the patients, 1/3 of them considered overweight, have attempted to go on diet before they develop symptoms of anorexia nervosa. In normal cases, diet is discontinued when a person lose weight she considers enough. But a patient of anorexia carried it through until her weight drops below the normal standard for a person of same age or height. Their calorie intake usually depends on low-calorie food such as fruits, vegetables and salad.

I think the first sentence of last para. is not good. Rewrite:Before developing the symptoms of anorexia, most of the patients have attempted to go on diet and 1/3 of them have been considered overweight.
