Cuora trifasciata is a species of turtle native to Southeast Asia, known in English as the Golden Coin Turtle or Three-striped/banded/lined Box Turtle.

The species is distributed in China (southern, Hainan and Hong Kong) , Lao People's Democratic Republic , Vietnam, possibly also in northern Burma (Myanmar). In Hong Kong, the species is found in Tai Tam Reservoir area on Hong Kong Island.



Threats
The species is the important ingredient for making Chinese medicinal dessert Guilinggao so it is under threat because of hunting. This is one of the most endangered turtle species according to a 2003 assessment by the IUCN.




The snow leopard (Uncia uncia[1] or Panthera uncia[2]), sometimes known as the ounce, is a large cat native to the mountain ranges of central and south Asia.

Well known for its beautiful fur, the snow leopard has a soft grey coat with ringed spots and rosettes of black on brown. The fur turns white in the winter. Its tail is heavy with fur and the bottom of its paws are covered with fur for protection against snow and cold. The life span of a snow leopard is normally 15-18 years, but in captivity they can live up to 20 years.

The Giant Panda is an endangered animal; an estimated 3,000 pandas live in the wild[2] and some 221 were reported to live in captivity at the end of 2006 in China,[3] with twenty pandas living outside of China. However, reports show that the numbers of wild panda are on the rise.[4][5]
The Hyacinth Macaw (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus) is the largest macaw and the largest flying parrot species in the world (however, the flightless Kakapo of New Zealand can weigh up to 3.5kg making it the heaviest). Their unique size, color, and markings make the Hyacinth Macaw one of the most recognized species of macaw. Their popularity as pets has taken a heavy toll on their population in the wild. Expect to pay between $9,000-$12,000 US dollars for a pet.

These birds nest in existing holes in trees. The clutch size is one or two eggs, although usually only one fledgling survives as the second egg hatches several days after the first, and the smaller fledgling cannot compete with the first born for food. Juveniles stay with their parents until they are six months old. They are mature and begin breeding at seven years.

Manatees (family Trichechidae, genus Trichechus) are large aquatic mammals sometimes known as sea cows. The name comes from the Spanish manatí, which itself comes from a Carib word meaning "breast."
The Trichechidae differ from the Dugongidae in the shape of the skull and the shape of the tail. Dugongs have a forked tail, similar in shape to a whale's, while manatees' tails are paddle-shaped. They are herbivores with one exception (discussed in the diet portion below), spend most of their time grazing in shallow waters, and can have a mass anywhere from 500 to 1000 kg. When born, baby manatees have an average mass of 30 kg

冬 季 在 朝 鮮 、 日 本 以 至 北 越 沿 岸 一 帶 出 現 ， 主 要 越 冬 地 在 台 灣 的 曾 文 溪 口 ( 最 高 紀 錄 找 到 363 隻 ) 及 香 港 的 米 埔 及 后 海 灣 內 灣 拉 姆 薩 爾 濕 地 ( 最 高 紀 錄 找 到 165 隻 ) 。 少 數 ( 1-20 隻 ) 在 其 他 沿 岸 地 點 出 現 。

至 今 僅 在 朝 鮮 半 島 西 岸 的 岩 島 發 現 牠 們 的 繁 殖 地 ， 約 有 30個 繁 殖 配 對 在 島 上 出 現 。

黑 臉 琵 鷺 主 要 以 沿 岸 淺 水 地 帶 的 魚 蝦 為 食 糧 。 東 亞 大 部 份 的 沿 岸 地 區 承 受 稠 密 人 口 及 工 農 業 活 動 帶 來 的 重 大 壓 力 ， 導 致 生 境 地 破 壞 及 污 染 。 台 灣 的 曾 文 溪 口 正 面 臨 重 要 的 工 業 計 劃 威 脅 ， 而 香 港 后 海 灣 所 承 受 的 壓 力 也 逐 漸 增 加 。

人 類 酷 愛 各 種 海 洋 生 物 ， 因 此 難 以 漠 視 不 斷 惡 化 的 污 染 問 題 ， 污 染 持 續 加 劇 ， 對 人 類 食 用 的 海 洋 生 物 構 成 嚴 重 威 脅 。 差 不 多 所 有 污 染 物 也 來 自 陸 地 ， 部 份 直 接 由 雨 水 沖 入 海 洋 ， 部 份 由 人 類 蓄 意 拋 棄 或 經 排 污 渠 排 入 海 中 。 少 部 份 來 自 船 隻 ， 如 清 洗 儲 油 庫 排 出 的 污 水 。

海 洋 污 染 肆 虐 全 球 ， 其 中 以 香 港 的 污 染 問 題 尤 其 嚴 峻 ， 僅 超 過 1,000 平 方 公 里 的 面 積 上 住 有 逾 700 萬 居 民 ， 成 為 問 題 的 癥 結 所 在 。

中華白海豚
中華白海豚是世界上七十八種鯨類品種之一；為統一起見，各地學者都稱牠們為「印度太平洋駝背豚」(學名為Sousa chinensis)，而「中華白海豚」只是香港及中國居民給牠們的本地稱號。中華白海豚屬於鯨類的海豚科，是寬吻海豚及殺人鯨的近親。很多市民及漁民均以為中華白海豚是一種魚類，其實牠們以及其他鯨魚及海豚都是哺乳類動物，像狗、猴子和人類一樣能夠恆溫、用肺部呼吸、懷胎產子及用乳汁哺育幼兒。

中華白海豚是香港的原居民，牠們在香港水域出現可能比我們的袓先還早。於一六三七年，中華白海豚首次於西方文獻出現，當時探險家彼得‧文地詳細描述珠江口的白海豚。此外牠們在我國清朝的文獻亦有所記載。除了中華白海豚，江豚是另一種本地常見的鯨類，牠們全年均在香港及鄰近水域生活。

過去，除了澳洲及南非的種群，中華白海豚在其他地方的資料甚少。由於這海豚在各地正受到不同程度的威脅，大家開始關注牠們，並在各地展開研究，其中包括泰國、印尼及馬來西亞的婆羅洲、新加坡、莫深比克、越南及中國的香港、珠江口、廈門港及北部灣。香港一直沒有中華白海豚的研究或記錄，直至一九七三年，漁農處(即現時的漁農自然護理署)正式搜集中華白海豚擱淺的資料，並加以記錄。為瞭解赤角新機場工程對中華白海豚所帶來的影響，香港政府資助了數項研究項目，研究內容包括中華白海豚在香港的分佈及數目，個別海豚的活動範圍、行為、習性及生活周期等。

蝙 蝠
香 港 共 錄 得 21 種 蝙 蝠 。 普 通 伏 翼 Pipistrellus abramus 的 分 佈 範 圍 廣 泛 ， 是 最 常 見 的 品 種 ， 其 餘 大 部 份 較 稀 有 或 本 港 只 有 少 量 分 佈 。 香 港 的 蝙 蝠 資 料 匱 乏 ， 仍 有 待 研 究 。 舉 例 來 說 ， 香 港 曾 錄 得 水 鼠 耳 蝠 及 黑 鬚 墓 蝠 兩 個 新 品 種 ； 此 外 ， 「 消 失 」 了 好 些 日 子 的 棕 果 蝠 及 皺 唇 犬 吻 蝠 也 再 度 在 港 出 現 。 21 個 本 地 蝙 蝠 品 種 中 ， 兩 個 屬 於 果 蝠 ， 一 種 以 魚 為 食 糧 ， 其 餘 捕 食 昆 蟲 維 生 。 大 足 鼠 耳 蝠 嗜 吃 魚 的 習 性 在 1990 年 才 首 次 發 現 ， 也 捕 食 昆 蟲 ， 在 香 港 並 不 常 見 。
