Is it better for your teeth to chew gum after meals if you can't brush them?

What are some other good things to do after eating? Drinking black tea etc?

If you cannot brush after a meal, chewing gum will remove food debris from the teeth. It is suggested that you chew the gum for 20 minutes. This does not necessarily mean sugarless gum. The sugar in gum does not last long enough to affect the teeth unless you are eating piece after piece.
I would not chew it constantly. You may have some jaw pain if you are chewing too much. It should not be a substitute for brushing. If you have access to a brush, paste, and a sink, please use them. (I can't tell you how many lazy teens I see try to get away without brushing!) Don't forget to brush your tongue & use floss.
I would not suggest tea. This may discolor your teeth.

Chewing Gum After Meals

Like my colleagues who answered, I am also a dentist and I also recommend chewing sugarless gum after meals. The salivation that chewing induces protects your teeth against acid attack, because the saliva contains bicarbonate, which neutralizes acids. The xylitol present in some sugarless gums also retard the growth of the germs that causes cavities. Trident, Orbit, and other assorted varieties of sugarless gum are all good.

It's okay to chew sugarless gum after meals. It is also real good to wash your mouth out with water after eating sugar or drinking something with sugar in it like coke. It gets the sugar off the teeth.

As long as its sugarless then yes.

Other good things to do after eating to remove plaque/tartar is eating apples or carrots. Eating foods that are "hard" & sugarless help to remove what can lead to decay.
