1. Something is against the law means that something is wrong is not a logical argument. Law is neither a satisfactory or a definitive way to judge whether a certain points are valid, or moral or otherwise. There might be a correlation between law and and what most people would believe as morally right, but it is nothing more than that. What most people believe to be right, is not necessarily so. Law, as well as people's moral beliefs change according to different cultures and times. It is only through the continuous questioning of the established norms and laws that we could be able to advance as a civilisation. The whole point of the existence of a democratic governement(e.g. elections, parliament, congress) and politics is to question the existing institutions and laws, so as to alter them or improve them as necessary. For example, it is illeagal in many countries, and believed to be extremely immoral to practice homosexual years ago, but now the practice of homosexual is legal in most of the countries in the world.
2. Copyright is an immoral concept of Capitalists, to create an artificial scarcity to drove the price up. An analogy to this might be the US after the agricultural revolution, famers were burning their own crops in order to reduce the supply of food, in order to drove up the prices, while there are people dying of hunger. To create an artificial scarcity where abundance lies, make our society worst off. When goods and services can be provided to people when little or no additional costs is needed, why should we restrict that artificially? The total satisfiction and happiness of a society would grow if the artificial scarcity is to be abolished.
3. Some people might argue that without copyright, artists, designers, software developers etc. would no longer be motivated to develop and create new things and ideas which benefit society immensely. (這點也很容易駁回,隨便找一些business studies或psychology的書就有很多關於motivation的theories,大部份近代的theories都會說金錢不是一個重要的motivator,成就感等等更重要, for example, in Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of human needs theory, Physiological needs, such as money is the lowest need, while self-actualization, such as achievement is the highest. Herzberg’s Two Factor Theory distinguishes between:Motivators; (e.g. challenging work, recognition, responsibility) which give positive satisfaction, and Hygiene factors; (e.g. job security, salary and fringe benefits) which do not motivate if present, but if absent will result in demotivation. ) )
還有copyright is a concept of Capitalism,找些關於socialists批評capitalism的書,一些論點也可應用在copyright上, such as over-emphasis the individual selfish impulses, rather than constructive co-operation.你可以說copyright is non-existent in some other form of societies可以直接批評整個capitalism或只說copyright is a flaw in the capitalist society
