A solution X contains 20%,30% and 50% by volumes of chemicals A,B and C respectively.A solution Y contains 60% A and 40% B only.150cm^3 of mixed solution of X and Y is found to contain same amount of A,B and C.Find the volumes of solutions X and Y in the mixture.

Let the volume of solution X be x c.c.;
Let the volume of solution Y be y c.c.;
Therefore, y = (150 - x) c.c.;

Amount of chemical A and B in solution X = 20/100 x + 30/100 x;

Amount of chemical A and B in solution Y = 60/100 * (150 - x) + 40/100 * (150 - x);

20/100 x + 30/100 x = 60/100 * (150 - x) + 40/100 * (150 - x);

20x + 30x = 9000 - 60x + 6000 - 40x;

20x + 30x + 60x + 40x = 15000;

150x = 15000;

x = 100 (c.c.) ;

y = 150 - x = 150 - 100 = 50 (c.c.)

Ans. The volume of solution X in the mixture is 100 c.c.; and
the volume of solution Y in the mixture is 50 c.c.;

I hope I can help.
