Once you feel comfortable doing the Scissor , move a few steps farther back and try to eatablish an appropriate starting point for your approach to the bar. Work on a five-step approach . If you come in from the right side , your first and last step should be with your left foot .
Take five steps , plant your takeoff foot so that it points to the inside of the far high-jump standard , and scissor-jump over the bar .
Once you've found a good starting point for the five-step approach , mark it on the jumping apron . You are now starting to develop your approach step .
