Whether one needs to stay in the hospital for pneumonia (肺炎) depends on the the person's age, severity, and whether the person has other medical conditions. Some doctors use a scoring system called the "PORT score" to determine the risk. A PORT score of over 90 puts a patient at moderate risk of death and therefore should in most case be hospitalized.
