霍亂弧菌(Vibrio cholerae) attack the immune system by suppressing immunoglobulin A (IgA) in the intestinal mucosa. It also releases a toxin that causes WATERY diarrhea. It does not directly damage any organ and the virus stays in the intestinal system so it does not cause any systemic effect.
People die of cholera usually because of severe water loss and electrolytes loss, so the standard treatment for cholera is just to replenish the loss. There is no drug that can destroy the virus.
