1.There are 36 students in F.1B Some of the student bring their own lunch, while some of them buy lunch boxes . If 1/4 of the students who usually bring their own lunch buy lunch boxes become 1:2. How many students are there who usually bring their own lunch?
2.Eric and Simon have a total of 12 story books. If Eric gives 1/2 of his story books to Simon, the ratio of their story books become 1:1. How many story books does each of them have originally?

1. Let x be the number of students who ususally bring their own lunch. Then

x - x/4 = 36 * [1/(1+2)]
3x/4 = 12
x = 16

2. using similar method as Q1.

answer: 12 usually bring their own lunch.

e + s = 12
e x 0.5 = s x 1.5
