Language Requirement
Any of the following qualifications will be considered as fulfillment of the minimum language requirement for admission:

A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 550 for the paper-based test, PLUS a Test of Written English (TWE) score of 4.5; OR a TOEFL score of 213 or above for the computer-based test;

2.
A Band Score of at least 5.5 in each of the sub-tests of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

Application for Admission



Definition of Non-local Applicants　
A "Non-local student" is defined as one who requires a student visa to study in Hong Kong. If you are holding a dependent visa, you will not require a student visa and will be considered as a local student, following the application/admissions arrangements for local students. In the case of the non-local applicants who possess only a visitor or a tourist visa, we can neither register them as a student nor allow them to commence study until a student visa is obtained.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications
Due to the differences in educational systems, school-leaving qualifications that are acceptable for entrance to universities in other places may not necessarily be acceptable for entrance to an undergraduate programme at PolyU. To be eligible for applying for admission to our undergraduate programmes, candidates pursuing a non-local curriculum are expected to have achieved an academic standard equivalent to GCE A-level, or have satisfactorily completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma or the first year of university education. Our entrance requirements in respect of qualifications from different countries are available at www.polyu.edu.hk/as/ep_ft/annex_c.htm. If you have not got any of the above qualifications but have other acceptable qualifications, you may be considered for admission to our full-time undergraduate programmes taking an additional foundation year, which is a special bridging year designed to prepare these non-local students to take up undergraduate studies at PolyU. Medium of Instruction
English is the medium used for classes, written assignments and examinations, except for Chinese-related subjects.

Applicants with Physical Disabilities
PolyU has a non-discriminatory policy in admitting handicapped students. Candidates fulfilling the basic entrance requirements and satisfying the specific physical demands of particular programmes will be considered for admission on an equal basis.

Upon admission, PolyU will help you apply for a student visa. Details on visa applications, immigration regulations, health care, cost of living and other non-academic matters of concern to non-local students will be sent to you if you are offered admission to our programmes.
