I am turning 18 in a week, and am looking to buy a car. I love the scion tc, but they are new cars (they came out in 20050 so i dont know if it is affordable for me. Ive never been in a car accident so my insurance is at its normal level right now, but how much will the insurance be?

Go online and check insurance rates. It's free and you don't have to speak to anyone.

Progressive gives you quotes from a couple places compared to their rates.

State farm usually has pretty good rates.

We had a 2005 scion and it was more expensive to ensure than a 2003 Toyota 4Runner. Rates in NJ are crazy though.

I would recommend you to try this site where you can compare quotes from different companies: http://COVERAGEDEALS.NET/index.html?src=5YAqqC1AOR8gjm1

I have an '05 tC, and my rates are very reasonable. I have State Farm and their rates and service have been excellent. The tC gets good crash test ratings and I have a pretty decent vehicle safety discount. I have been with them since I first started driving. The best bet would be to stay under a parent's policy if that is possible. You may have an option to pay for your portion of the policy seperately.

Dude, if you are a 18 year old insurance is gonna be expensive on you for a bicycle. No hard feelings.
But you know what? You are only young once so i say go for it. As long as you have a decent job to pay for it, just keep your driving record clean and you will be ok. You need to get with a good insurance company and get established with them, in time your rates will fall or level out.
Really, there are too many factors to put into regarding how much insurance would be for you. Things from a persons driving record, to the area they live in and the area they work in (is it a high crime area for instance), Some insurance companies even take into account a persons credit history.
Good luck and enjoy the car!

yep its considered a compact car and it doesnt have good crash test results. Your better off with a focus or cobalt. and you'd be supporting america not japan.

Your insurance rate is going to be high since you are 18. If you currently have a good driving record, then the rates shouldn't go up too dramatically. Call your insurance company, get a quote before buying the new car and mention you are looking into buying a new tC. Some insurance companies would quote you a higher rate than what it should be if you never told them ahead of time that you plan to purchase a new vehicle. If possible, to save $$$$$ you should be under your parent's policy. You can also get discounts on your rates if you have good grades in school. Good luck. =)
