Actually, aqueous ammonia solution react with acid to form both salt and water.

NH3------->NH4+ and OH- (You should know the ionization of ammonia)

Take hydrochloric acid as an example

NH4+ and OH- and HCl ---------> NH4Cl and H2O

The reaction is called neutralization.

In neutralization, alkali+acid--------> water+ salt
