No, unless you are doing it incorrectly !!, incorrect flossing can cause irritation to the gum, leaving them sore. Ask your dentist/dental nurse to show you the correct way and use the correct floss suitable for your teeth, as some are more thicker than others!!!
I always recommend colgate dental tape as it glides around the tooth with ease!!!

No. If there are any they are negligible. The advantages outweigh any possible disadvantages so do floss. It can reduce the chance of getting heart disease and increase your life expectancy. It may not sound possible but it is when you consider on a life scale how much food gets stuck between your teeth and that you could swallow after you have finished eating.
The problem I have with Flossing is - my gums bleed & I keep sucking them ..& the dried blood makes my breath smell...
No theres no disadvantages to flossing, flossing removes a multitude of sins from between the teeth that your own toothbrush cannot get to.
There are many different types of floss available on the market,i tend to use Oral B satin floss, it's a lot finer than average floss and just glides in between the teeth and removes all the food and debris which like to gather there
If you find flossing tricky try investing in an Oral B Humming Bird, these little beauties are about the size of your thumb and are battery operated, simply put the flossette head inbetween the teeth press the button and the humming bird vibrates all the debris out, so you dont have to do anything at all, simple!
