These are my own thoughts, didn’t copy from anywhere:
1. Increased levels of air pollution due to the increased use of coal (for steam engines and power generation) and industrial processes.
2. Population density was vastly increased in the big cities such as London, because workers flocked into the city from the countryside to work (better paid than working as farmers). As a result the living condition was very poor with increased disease (e.g. cholera, typhoid) and crime.
3. Increased population further increased the levels of air pollution caused by the burning of coal for cooking and domestic heating.
4. Child labour was seen everywhere as a result of the city’s education system being unable to coupe with the sudden increase in the number of children (most people couldn’t afford to send children to school anyway). Moreover this was also caused by the increased demand in labours working in the factories - a push and pull factor.
5. Poor working conditions were often seen in the factories and mines, and industrial accidents were not uncommon.
6. Industrialisation and mass production meant that skilful crafters were no longer needed and as a result they lost their jobs (and their skills were not passed on and were lost forever).
7. Capitalism further divided the population into different social class, resulted in inequalities in the society.
8. You can argue that capitalism fuelled Marxism, which was the precursor of communism (and some people regard communism as a bad thing… though I am neutral haha…)
Hope this helps :)
