My favourite festival

My favourite festival is Halloween. It's on 31st October. It represents the beginning of winter. People often have traditional pumpkin soup on this day. This soup is disgusting. Houses are usually decorated with pumpkins. Children make pumpkin lanterns with big eyes, big mouths and really scary big teeth. Then they put candles in them. I like Halloween games because they are very funny and mysterious. Children go out on the street and they usually play 'trick or treat.' When people say 'treat' they often give children sweets. But when people say 'trick,' it means no sweets or money so the children play a trick on them. We sometimes organise fancy dress parties too. We usually dress up as vampires, ghosts, witches and other scary creatures.

My favourite festival is Christmas. I receive many Christmas presents from my friends. I have a very great time in the Christmas holiday. I do a lot of things in the Christmas holiday and I really hope that every day is Christmas.

I love Christmas very much because I can see many happy faces. The day before Christmas is called Christmas Eve and the day after is Boxing Day. I usually go to a place that I can enjoy the lighting on the buildings' wall, and hang out with my friends having fun at the Christmas Eve.

On the Christmas day, I will have dinner with my whole family and play games with my cousins; also, my grandparents, aunt, and uncle gives the gifts for the children. I love to see that moment because all the kids are carrying the sweet smile on their face. This mood is really hard to find except Christmas time, and this is the reason why I like Christmas too. After the dinner, I go to see the Christmas lights along the Victory Harbour. They were so colourful and beautiful!

On the Boxing Day, I usually wake up so early to open my gifts, and my parents always get me something that I desire for long time. I believe Christmas is a wonderful festival for me.

Christmas is a magical time for everyone, especially children!
