Depending on your budget, I stayed in Barcelona Le Meridien. Absolutely convenient hotel right on the La Rambla. For more style and elegance, you could stay in Hotel 1898. If you are aiming at some budget hotels, you can avoid those on the La Ramblas because most are quite old. Try some of the outskirts or the hillside.
Barcelona isn't too big and you can buy a tourist bus ticket for a 2 day pass. However, the tourist buses are not very frequent and sometimes they are quite full. The airport is just 30 minute bus ride from the city centre but make sure you have some Euros on hand to buy the bus ticket at the ticket machine. Otherwise, taxi ride should be around 30 Euros, depending on the distance.
Shopping is best within Europe because most of the branded clothing and accessories are cheaper than Paris or London. LV, Loewe, Gucci, Burberry are nice to buy. Burberry Spanish edition is reasonably priced there and guarantee you can't find an equivalent in HK. Zaras are same priced as HK, so forget about it.
If you aim for food, the tapas are everywhere and worth trying. Spanish wines are cheap. A 4-5 Euro bottle of wine at the supermarket are already drinkable quality. Seafood platter on crushed ice is a MUST TRY. Chinese food is awful and are cooked for foreigners only.
At Barcelona, it's all about museums and architecture. Spanish are very talented people in terms of art. You can visit Gaudi's artwork and architectures. Visit their official website for famous tourist spots.
I recommend 3 days in Barcelona.
