It is easy to explain when giving a counter example

First statement
Iodine can form crystal. But is iodine are bonded by ionic bond? NO. Iodine are bought by weak Van Der Waals' force (intermolecular force).

Second statement
Iodine crystal are black in colour. But this does not imply that iodine contain metal ion.
