She is a former Mexican model turned politician and says she never had time to learn. What is the best recourse for me to continue to enjoy good food?

She just immigrated from Mexico, we have a beautiful 2 month old baby girl too.

Eat out, hire a cook, order prepared meals in advance, or take over the kitchen duties yourself! ;)

Kudos on the new baby!

This is an easy one. All you have to do is learn to cook yourself. Then you never have to rely on your wife for good eats!

You were obviously aware of her abilities ( or inabilities). You accepted it. So why don't you get your butt in front of the stove and whip something up.. why does it have to be her.. if you like home cooked food some much, get some cooked books and get crackin'.. .

Learn to cook. You have two legs and a heartbeat, why can't you cook? If you are really asking "how can I get my wife to cook for me" then my answer would still be "learn to cook". Then you can cook with your wife while she builds up confidence in the kitchen. Then you are spending time together and enjoying food together.

Go in the kitchen and start cooking - then you can have home cooked meals

Learn how to cook yourself. Then share your knowledge!

What's wrong with your hands, or do you not know how to cook, either?

I guess you'll be ordering out a lot, then.

Cook for yourself. Why do you need to rely on a woman?
geez

Do to physical limitations I can't cook anymore. I like the same kind of food you do. These are the things I have done:

1. Found a couple brands of frozen food that taste more homey like - Marie Callendars and Stouffers.

2. Found local restaurants that make homestyle meals that I enjoy. In Austin it is Threadgills.

3. Learn how to cook them yourself. No where is it written (even the Bible) that the woman has to cook.

4. After you learn how to cook learn how to freeze. Cook a bunch of things at the same time and freeze them. That's what those little plastic containers are for.

5. If you work days have your meal out at your favorite restaurant and have your luncheon meal - like a sandwich, at home.

Consider taking cooking lessons together. This gives you both the opportunity to spend some quality time together. I also recommend investing in good cookbooks which offer information on a lot of "how to's" to different cooking terms. While they may seem like overwhelming cookbooks, Joy of Cooking and the Fannie Farmer Cookbooks offer a lot of detail and information on many basics of cooking, including terminology, tools and some techniques.

As you and your wife become more proficient, look into expanding your knowledge with other cookbooks and classes.

Good luck in your endeavors!

Where is it written that the woman has to be the cook? Take a few cooking courses and learn to make those foods you love. Let her do something around the house she's good at. And if neither of you want to do it, hire someone who will. There are services that will come to your house and cook you a week's worth of meals at a time. Or take her to a restaurant that serves home cooking. She's busy enough with her career and the new baby. ;)

Give her lessons on little things to do in the kitchen so she's not clueless... then buy her a couple recipe books, if you can read you can cook. give her practive she'll get it, you could even enroll her in lessons and take them with her, she might enjoy spending the time with you.

Maybe you should take some cooking classes.
2007-02-24 5:21 am
Buy her a few good cook books. If there any cooking classes in your area sign her up for those
2007-02-24 5:21 am
im sure both of yall can try to cook something home-cooked together.
2007-02-28 5:13 am
Give her a gift of cooking lessons.. lol
Why don't you start watching the food network together, and suggest to her that you try one of the recipes, You can also go on Food network.com and find some great recipes.

Hmm. Let me see, how about YOU learn how to cook?! Why does the woman always have to do the cooking? If you ever watch FoodNetwork, the majority of the people cooking are men. Why does this never translate to real life?

Bring home your mom or hers... I'm sure they'll know how to whip up quite a few good home cooked meals. besides that, either of them can also help with the Baby while yr wife practices her culinary skills.. and who can resist spending extra time with thier new grand child.. :)

Here are a couple of things you should keep in mind. No.1, your wife just had a beautiful baby girl and No.2, being that your wife just recently gave birth to your daughter, it will take some time for your wife to get back up on her own two feet, so as a husband and a father, you should be very understanding and help her out when she needs help. Now as far as her not knowing how to cook, maybe you can teach her how to make good meals or buy some cookbooks and you two can learn how to make family recipes whenever she feels ready.
2007-02-24 5:41 am
Surely you can do the cooking then! If you can whip up a tasty meal, it may interest her to pick up cooking too.
2007-02-24 5:33 am
Well, both of you can learn cooking together and it will be another fun activity. If you cannot attend cookery classes, you can buy good cookbooks or DVDs which show all the steps.

Home cooked food is tasty, wholesome and inexpensive apart from being hygienic.
2007-02-24 5:32 am
yeah, get some cook books, if you both can read, then you should be able to cook.
2007-02-24 5:29 am
A model turned politician? Hmmmm.....

Well anyway. Maybe you and she can take some kind of cooking class together?
2007-02-24 5:28 am
Try baby steps. Start with one or two nights when you cook together at home...Trader Joes can help make cooking easy to start. Some foods are very sensual, it might be fun to start with them...
2007-02-24 5:28 am
Why don't you and your wife learn how to cook together? That way, you know how to cook and can take care of yourself, but your wife can also cook you some meals. It would also be a good bonding experience. Buy some cookbooks for the both of you.
2007-02-24 5:28 am
Pray to Jesus Christ, ask Him to teach her to cook.
2007-02-24 5:22 am
divorce or get a mistress. I will never marry a woman who doesn't know how to cook.
