Question about Anorexia?

I spoke to my daughter after noticing that she was'nt eating as much as she used to, i pointed out to her that she need's to put on alittle bit of weight, she broke down crying saying 'i think i'm fat'. She get's cerial every morning without fail, she has lunch at school, (i've asked the school for a list of what she's been getting at dinner time, i dont know if she's been eating it). She has a little something when she gets home, fruit or sandwich, and she'eat's about half of her dinner with me. She's a nervous child, loves dance. I need someone talking from experience to answer- do you think i'm worrying too much? could it just be a phase? Can you identify with this? Thankyou.
更新1:

She's 14. She will eat fruit and a little veg. McD'S, Chips and stuff, just not much of it.

You should watch your daughter for the following signs

People who have anorexia try to hide their condition, so others may not notice the signs and symptoms of the eating disorder. The warning signs and symptoms of anorexia include:

1. dramatic weight loss; refusal to maintain the minimal normal body weight for one’s age and height
2. basing self-worth on body weight and body image
3. frequent skipping of meals, with excuses for not eating
4. eating only a few foods, especially those low in fat and calories
5. making meals for others, but not eating the meals themselves
6. frequent weighing of oneself and focusing on tiny fluctuations in weight
7. wearing baggy clothing to cover up thinness
8. excessive focus on an exercise regimen
9. frequent looking in the mirror for flaws
10. avoidance of social gatherings where food is involved
11. even when thin, complaining about being overweight
12. in females, missing three consecutive menstrual periods; in males, decreased sexual desire

There are two types of anorexia, based on whether the anorexia is combined with bulimia:

Classic Anorexia (Restricting Anorexia) – The person eats very little and loses weight through self-starvation or excessive exercise. Calories consumed are insufficient to support bodily functions and activities.

Binge-Eating/Purging Anorexia – In addition to cutting the intake of calories, this person also binges and purges (self-induced vomiting, or misuse of laxatives, diuretics, or enemas). The person has symptoms of both anorexia and bulimia. About 50% of people with anorexia also develop bulimia.

I was anorexic for years and am now two years in recovery. What you described doesn't sound like she alreay is anorexic but it could be the very beginning. I wouldn't bother her too much about it, when people constantly mentioned my weight, it just drew my attention too it even more so and if she truely is anorexic then telling her she is too thin will only encourage her. When I was close to my lowest weight my boyfriend begged me to not lose any more weight and said I didn't look good anymore, that I was just bones--and I considered it one of the best compliments he'd ever given me. So I would just watch but don;t let her know that you are. Also when I was ana, the only time I ever ate was in front of other people, otherwise I considered it a waste. So if you truely think she may be then I would watch that too, just because she makes food and takes it to her room, doesn't mean she's planning on eating it.

Hi im 14 as well. I can identify with your daughter as i dont eat much either and think im fat even though i get told im not. This could just be a phase all teens go through but sometimes its not, as my mate went through it and she became bulimic. Its really awful seeing someone you love put themselves through it so if you have any doubts take her to the doctor. hope ive helped :)

ive been through anorexia myself and thats how i started off by saying that i was fat she eating ok at the moment just make sure shes not binge eating and then going to the toilet and well you no i dont think your worrying to much just keep a real close eye on her because once anorexia kicks in its very hard to get out of think of the things like could she be getting bullied at school has there been any upset in the family any stress going around at the moment that she could be picking up on thats worrying her all little things like that hope you find out soon but dont be to worried and dont ask her out in full face cos thst will just make her worse and more secretive xxx

You don't say her age or whether her eating habits changed or has she always been a light eater? She maybe under pressure from her dance class to lose a bit of weight but if she is dancing, especially ballet then muscle tone is vital for strength and agility. Get her some supplements for bone like calcium vitamin D and perhaps iron or multi vitamins (if she is old enough). It could be a phase but if she 'broke down saying she thinks she's fat' then she could be in the early stages of anorexia. Be a silent observer and don't be on her case too much until you are sure there's a problem.

You are there with her daily. If you have a fear something is wrong, I would suggest taking her to the doctor. Have the doctor recommend a Nutritionalist.
Anorexia, like all eating disorders, should not be ignored. Eating disorders are also not as noticeable because of the amount of effort the person uses to hide their illness.
A large percentage of people with eating disorders have a demanding hobby or profession. Ie: Dancers, Models, Actors, Athletes, Weight lifters, etc.
Good Luck Hon.

Most girls these days are afraid of being fat and being teased by other girls (they become really sensitive about their weight and figure), so that's why most are anorexia. I wouldn't say she is anorexia, but she shouldn't eat less. If she wants to keep a slim figure, than she should exercise instead. A growing body needs food. It's usually just a phase that she's going through, but sometimes, some girls continue to eat less, and less.
