What do you know about Egypt?

Egypt is a country in northern Africa. It has a population about 80 million people, the 15th most populous country in the world. Over 90% of the population are lived along the banks of river Nile.
Ancient Egypt had its own culture, language, and religion. It was one of the greatest ancient civilisation. However, it had been conqurered and invaded by Greek, Roman, Arab, and Britain. Many of the traditional cultures and languages were vanished. Indeed, Egyptian today speak Arabic and majority people are Muslim.


Does Egypt have a long history? How do you know?

Egyptian has more than 3000 year of historial archives. Ancient Egypt has been divided into 8 or 9 periods, sometimes called Kingdoms. The Palermo Stone simply lists the kings one after the other, without any apparent need of grouping them. The Turin Kinglist, which is more recent, has grouped the kings according to their descendance or origin. From the painting and drawings in statues and pyramids we know the ancient history of Egypt.
I went to Egyptian National museum in Cairo, Karnak Temple and the Valley of the Kings.


What is Egypt famous for?

For souvenir, Egypt is famous for Papyrus and perfume bottles.
For sightseeing / archeological tour: Egypt is famous for its ancient civilization and the Giza Pyramids and the Great Sphinx of Giza. In Luxor (Southern Egypt) contains a particularly large number of ancient artifacts such as the Karnak Temple and the Valley of the Kings.


What do you think visitors can do in Egypt?

Northern Egypt: Suez Canal and Red Sea
Along river Nile: take a cruise trip along river Nile from Northern Egypt to Cario
Cairo : Cairo Tower, Egyptian National Museum, Giza Pyramids and the Great Sphinx of Giza
Southern Egypt: Karnak Temple and the Valley of the Kings.


Is Egypt suitable for visitors who love the nature?

Northern Egypt would recommend to those who love the nature.
For the true nature lover, suggest to visit Kenya as well.


Why do you think that?

As Egypt is surrunded by desert, it does not have too many natural scenary. Nature lover may enjoy diving along the Mediterranean sea in Northern Egypt. The beach and sunshine in Northern Egypt may appeals to them.


What kind of food do the people in Egypt like?

Bread (from barley), rice,
beans, egg, cheese, Molokhiyya (vegetables)
beef, chicken, mutton, with curry.
Absolutely NO pork in Egypt. In supermarket, you find the luncheon meat(午餐肉) was made of chicken.
