"as well as" means almost the same as "and". But it is usually being used at the end of a sentence. You will say: Peter and Susan shopped in Mongkok but not Peter as well as Susan shopped in Mongkok. You can say: I will bring some local snacks as well as fruit as souvenir when returning from Thailand (it will be same as I will bring some local snacks and fruit as souvenir when returning from Thailand)
