I have been playing varsity football since my freshman year and have always had really good hands. Now I am in the 11th grade and i've moved to a new district and started going to new school.

Now heres the problem,I have always had great hands but now at this new school i'm just dropping alot of passes but i just can't figure out what the problem is. I've been thinking for a while now and the only thing that i can find that is diffrent about me is that I am really nervous infront of all my new team mates and coaches and i think that i've lost alot of confidence in myself.

so i just wanted to know does being nervous and your cofidence effect how you play in football

nice man varsity since freshman year like me anyways bro well if you are at new school i can tell you dont want to screw up and then you have that in your mind and then you drop the passes just be cool and think you are in the same school I know that might be hard to do but try it because when you do that you will look at things the same way and play at your best as you did in your old school when you were varsity. Good luck man

Hello! You should try playing in your free time, ask siblings, parents, especially friends, in which you'll develop a more OUT-going attitude when playing. Play for fun, don't think of it as a serious game, don't worry about the little mistakes you make. First time I've played football/soccer, I had no idea HOW to play. The trainers would train us girls, and then determine our positions. I believe I was Mid-Left/Right, SOMETIMES Forward (Hated that). We as a team went with the flow. There were two girls on my team who would hog the ball, and never pass to us, unless it was themselves. Which frustrated me, because I was open, but I guess it was their game. At least you get the ball passed to~Don't worry over little things like, "What if I miss, what if I can't pass..." just make quick decisions, and keep going~ Practice passing, scoring, dribbling, etc. Practice makes perfect. Think of it as YOUR moment, when the ball is passed to you, It's all up to you. Your the center of attention! What will you do? Haha! Hope I have helped! Good luck, and DON'T WORRY! Have fun! Happy Summer! ~Vivienne

Relax
Mentally, visualize catching the ball before its even thrown. Go after the ball like it was piece of fine crystal, don't let it hit the ground. You are in a mental funk and yes being nervous, makes you tight and not able to flow to the ball. Work with the QB or other QB's playing catch.......build confidence that anything thrown your way will be caught. All great recievers have done that.

absolutely. I'm a receiver myself, and if theres ever stuff goin on in ur personal life, or even in ur case in a new environment or whatever the case may be, if your concentration isnt there thats when the dropped passes come. The best way for me to get out of a slump like that is to go out in the evening, run routes all by myself and practice turning towards where my qb would be. Once i got that to be a habitual thing, it makes catching a lot easier and should get u out of that slump, good luck man

nerves effect you badly. the best basketballers like MJ stepped on the court and knew they were the best. peyton manning knows he can pick apart any defence in the universe. it seems like arrogance but look where it got them. mind over matter. if you think you can beat anybody you will beat anybody.

I had the same problem, new team, new coach to impress. The best thing to do is rub a little dirt on your hands before, or the start of practice. It may sound strange, but it works. Soon after your confidence will be back and everything will be good.

nervous means you're uncertain and fear of something. Whatever that is, you have to learn how to manage it
