you do know that most schools offer summer programs...have you thought about this approach...or maybe home schooling...your parents would have to go through the school board to get approval ( -each state has different requirements but it is not a major event)..than you do the school work at home (the board will also provide the curriculum) you keep a portfolio of everything you have done.....than at the end of the year you have a teacher review your work and see if you have successfully complete all the work required for that grade...or you can take a standardized test (whichever your state approves of) at the end of the year and if you test on the level you are suppose to be...you can go back into school the following year where you are suppose to be at......you should have your parent/parents call your board of education and talk with them..they will be happy to work with you....

really, years ago..these options were not readily known of...and people like yourself ended up dropping out...but now it is more widely used and you should consider this option before throwing in the towel ,so to speak....

to your question...yes ,it is possible for people to be successful that has dropped out of school....but the odds are not all that favorable....even college degrees are not a guarantee of success....but the odds are better with a degree than without them...the same with trade schools...but most,if not all trade school require you to have a high school diploma or the equivalent (GED).......

please consider the other options..before totally giving up on school.....

mosty likely no, trade schools are good to but you must realize that it is still school so no matter how much a person hates school you will still need some types of training to get a really good job. Most jobs to now are def. looking for people with degrees so if u dont know anyone your best bet is to stay in school or go!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you? Yes. However, it will be much harder to do, and will rely on knowing people in the company you want to work for more than someone who didn't drop out, and a good deal of luck.

Okay man, honestly you can still get a great job if you drop out of school, but you got to be honest with yourself. What kind of true skills can you offer a company w/o a high school education. Plus, you are going to be up against people who are grad. from college. So what ever you is you have better be amazing...matter of fact so amazing that it makes up for your lack of spelling abilities...its plan not plain. Man just get a H.S. diploma, then open your own business, dont settle for working for someone, make your own path thats what it sounds like you want to do anyway!!!

Yes offcourse, a good career depend not on the level of your education but on your skills and talents. the best thing for you is to define what aspect of life you are best at and improve it. developing your skill and talent will asure you of a better future.

Yes you can get a good job without a high school or college education but your chances are very slim. You can start your own business and be a huge success like hundreds of other people have done in the past, but the problem is you probably won't be successful but not because of the lack of education but because of the lack of motivation. If you are not motivated to even get up and go to school, then why do you think you would be motivated to go to work or work for your own company? The factor that people had to be successful without a high school diploma is that they were highly motivated to educate themselves which gave them the tools they needed to be successful. If you are not motivated to go to school, do you think you will be motivated to learn on your own the tools you will need to be successful? Most people think not, so that is why it is mandatory for minors to attend school and why you are faced with a fine for not attending. The government is "motivating" you to do something you are not motivated to do yourself. Bottom line is to get your education and get the tools you need to get on with your life.

The options for people without a high school education (and even post-high school training of some kind) are limited and becoming more so.

Many people do work their way up to a good job, or owning their own business and they did not finish school. Many, but not most. It is the exception. I'm glad you didn't drop out and you don't plan on it, because you must work on your spelling. Even fewer people get good jobs when they can not spell "because" "plan". Decide what you want for your life, and understand, it won't happen. You must forget the money, the cars, the houses, the clothes, the music. It will not happen for you. You will only get broken down Chevy's, women who are already well known on your block, 2 sets of fubu's you must wash out each night if you want to be clean, big shiny fake gold medallions and a rental that you will try to avoid the landlord and skip out on the rent as often as you can. That is what YOU will get, ........if you let that happen.
The fact you even asked about this, shows there is more to you, then you are putting out right now. I think you can be extremely successful, but only you can make that choice.
Good Luck.

Sure, you can, but its hard. I didn't drop out of school, but I was homeschooled. You can send your school work in to be graded and documented, but we never did that, so while I finished highschool, I have no proof of it. Every job application I've ever filled out will ask you if you have your ged/diploma, and I always have to put no, which makes me look like I dropped out of school. Im going to get my ged soon to avoid having to put that anymore. Granted, having your highschool diploma alone, isnt going to get you great jobs, but, it'll help get a job in the first place. great or not.

Those people that twirl signs on the street corners for new sub-divisions make about 12 - 15 bucks an hour dude. That's what my dad does and he always has beer money. Sometimes he has enough even buy me one.
I know that the guy that goes thru the trash cans in my alley is ready to retire so that must be a good job. Maybe you could take over for him. ya want his number, oh he doesn't have a phone, sorry
You could be a "lookout" for the drug dealer on my corner, He makes mucho$$ and if he gets popped he's a minor. He's back out within hours.
You are under 18, right?

STAY IN SCHOOL
2007-02-23 5:10 am
well i think you can but it will be VERY hard becuase you have to have some background education but try you never know. You might get some one nice, GOOD LUCK!

The construction industry pays fairly good wages ($ 10/hr on the non union side of the industry and as much as $ 40/hr on the union side) and you don't need a high school diploma. Trucking also doesn't require a high school diploma nor does the sanitation industry.

anything can happen. Look at Bill Gates, Steve ballmar, Michael Dell and etc. They never finished college.
