My friend told me that I can take out the notebook hardrive (model: Toshiba MK4025GAS) and make an external USB hardrive by buying a box. I bought the box and I plug it into my computer. It shows Toshiba MK4025GAS mass storage device detected and was installed. However, I cannot find a new drive corrsponding to my new external harddrive? The worst is my computer stop responding after I plug in the hardrive? It works again when I unplug it.

If your USB external hard disk has an external transformer?If no, it may be the power supply from your computer could not afford the hard disk
If yes, it may be the power supply from your external transformer is not stable
