personal trainer is a waste of money and if you are not familiar with the wrokout equipment, you can ask other members to have them show you how to use the machine or do the exercise correctly. But if you want a good personal trainer it will be very expensive and it is also hard to find.

Get some Tony Little videos/dvds. Tony Little was a champion bodybuilder and has written a book and produced videos/dvds showing you the correct way to do weight training.

You can go to his website (www.tonylittle.com) and watch free video clips on the correct way to do exercises for each body part.

If you don't know if you are doing it correctly..... it might be a good idea. if you belong to a gym that has people available for questions you might try asking them a few things that way you won't have to pay for their trainer.

I would say, "No". While a personal trainer can help you with methods & motivation, eventually you'll see that you can do most of that yourself. There's a lot of exercise info on the web to see how to do some exercises correctly. Try the link below, as an example. If you're still uncomfortable and could use the guidance, by all means hire a PT to help you out. Good luck!

Most clubs have trainers on staff. You don't necessarily need one looking over your shoulder all the time. See if they offer an orientation class that runs you through all the available machines so you know what they do and how to properly operate them.

Most places have something like this available gratis to new members.

Most gyms have plenty of helpful trainers that would be glad to give you hints if you ask. Or you can also ask other fellows who have been lifting for a couple of years.

You could have a personal trainer for like a week and have him set up a plan for you, and then you will know everything you need to know, if you are doing it right or not!

just ask someone and see if your doing it right
