All metals=element?

元素(element)不等於金屬(metal)，而金屬也不等於元素，就如鋼為例子，它雖然是金屬，但不是元素，而是化合物(compound)。不過，118種已發現元素中，多數也是金屬。

在元素週期表中，已顯示了每一族元素的類別：

第一族，鹼金屬(與水有反應)，有鋰，鈉，鉀，銫及鈁

第二族，鹼土金屬，有鈹，鎂，鈣，鍶，鋇及鐳

第三族，鹵素，有氟，氯，溴，碘，Astatine

第0族，惰性氣體，有氦，氖，氬，氪，氙及氡(人工元素不計算)

我也想指正上一個人所說的話，雖然是過渡期金屬，但也算是金屬，所以在118種元素當
中，金屬佔最多。

First of all, different metals are different elements.( like Iron, copper, tin...... ) And metals can combain with other elements such as Iron(III) chloride (FeCl3) is used: in water purification and sewage treatment, in the dyeing of cloth, as a coloring agent in paints, as an additive in animal feed, and as an etching material for engravement, photography and printed circuits.

Actually, all metals are elements. And metals always mean they in pure form.
For aluminium oxide, Al2O3 which combines with two elements i.e, aluminium and oxygen.
And elements are divided into 3 groups, metals, non-metals and semi-metals.
For example,
metals: gold, copper, iron
non-metals: Sulphur, oxygen
semi-metal: Silicon

所有pure metal, 都係 element, 但 element 唔一定係 metal , 所以兩者唔可以加上等號~
基本上, 除左 group I, II, III 之外, 其他 element 都唔係 metal~
