I know that it has recently been put forward by a senator, but right now we do not want a draft - from a military point of view or as a civillian point of view. The reason is we have an all voluntary military who are there because they want to be. People like myself are in the military because that was our own choice, and as a result I am more likely to be motivated to carry out my duties in the eyes of my superiors. As a matter of fact, I know I will without question. We do not want to disrupt this with second guessing. Second guessing may cost you your life, or someone else's.

Highly doubtful....................everyone keeps claiming that the Iraq war is just like Vietnam. No worries, the draft isn't coming back

No.

Are you a Block Head???? You must be listening to those communist loving, socialist pigs we call liberals!!!!

In a TWO LETTER word: NO. Read the papers, news mags, watch the news. Males who turn 18 have to REGISTER for the draft.

That will depend on if Bush starts WW III or not.

Hopefully before school gets out for the summer. Keep the little shits off the streets and causing problems all summer long.

as a former member of the armed forces, I got out last year. there is only one thing that could possibly incite a draft, and that is if we were to go to war with Iran. as of right now this is not going to happen, being in the intelligence community. I could say though that I personally think the Bush administration would like to make the next war front be Iran. but I would also considering timing. in which case dont expect a draft to be called till 2009. thats if the next president wants to follow the lead.

There is very very little chance of it
This is because we have so many patriotic men and women who sign up for the military voluntarily

To clarify about a draft: It is Males AND Females (Can't have sexism) usually between the ages of 18 and 21

God Bless America and the men and women who fight for it!!

please forgive my bluntness, but if someone dosen't want to be in the armed forces, I don't want them serveing with me.

Absolutely not. The ONLY way they'll restart the Draft is if it is introduced and voted in by Democrats and signed by a Democrat president. They are the only ones calling for a draft and the only ones introducing legislation for a draft and they're only doing so as part of their anti-war/anti-military measures.

The US Military is a very professional volunteer force. It is incredibly high-tech and requires very high standards in order to join - If you look at the demographics of the US Officer Corps, it far surpasses that of the US civilian managers. Draftees are conscripts - they make good cannon fodder, but NOT the best soldiers.

You end up with a lot of resentful slackers rather than highly motivated professionals. Every person in the US Military is there because they volunteered and worked their BUTT off to be there. This is why the re-enlistment rates are so high, particularly for those folks in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Despite John Kerry's, John Murtha's and Barak Obama's and the rest of the Democrats statements to the contrary, our men and women are there because they WANT to be there and fought hard to be there.

Negative.

Highly unlikely, it would never get thru at the moment.
2007-02-17 11:00 am
No if they did it would be all over the news and everyone would know.

NO

Personally doesn't matter to me. I've already done military service and am outside of the draft age range. But, I doubt it, because that is the highest risk to the children of the congressmen. Currently, it is an all volunteer military and children of congressmen could easily avoid military service. A draft would result in the highest risk to the upper class of serving in the military.

If they decide it is necessary they can, but we have so many Men and Women that are proud to serve now, that we can do without the wimps anyway.

yep they are going to draft the stupid first. It will not happen it would be political suicide.
2007-02-17 10:48 am
Man I hope so. Get some of these young do nothing dope heads out of the public and into rehab. Draft them all.
2007-02-17 10:52 am
No it is not true at this point. Nothing has been decided.
2007-02-17 10:52 am
They really don't want to, that's why there are so many army ads to get people to enlist. If you have a loved one who might risk being drafted, get them into college ASAP. Then they can't take him.

I don't see how. All you have to do to get out of it is say you have used alot of drugs. I mean think a bit. Do I A) say I have been a druggie wheither it is true or not or B) Go get killed so the Rockefeller family can be even more oil rich (We should assassinate this entire family by the way they cause more problems that the Dems and Republicans combined)?

I heard on the news, a while back, that it is being thought about. From what they said, it would be males aged 18 through 42!!
2007-02-17 10:48 am
The government has been toying with the idea but, that is about as far as it will go until there are enemy forces gathering on US soil.
2007-02-17 10:47 am
