香港樹仁大學升格後,如在早年是私立大學完成文憑,可否得到追認某一些學分,補修學科,而取得學位或繼續修讀碩士?

樹仁明年將升格大學

本港首間全日制私立大學將於明年誕生。創校三十四年、一直堅持四年制學的樹仁學院,將向育統籌局申請升格為大學,該校創辦人胡鴻烈直言樹仁最快可於明年正名,成為本港首間以自負盈虧運作的私立大學。統局局長李國章昨天更首次公開「力撐」樹仁升格。他說︰「現在只等待樹仁正式提出申請,統局在收到申請後會積極協助。」可見樹仁離升格之日已不遠矣。


根據香港的高等育條例,一間院校要升格為大學,必須開辦七成以上獲統局承認的學位課程。李國章昨天出席樹仁學院宿舍文康大樓開幕禮時指出,樹仁學院獲承認的榮譽學位數目,已由去年的七個增加至現在的十個,完全符合條例的要求。他說︰「能否成為私立大學,資金是很重要的一環,希望社會能為本港的大學育多出一分力……」他稍後又稱,樹仁的基金已有足夠儲備,為樹仁升格再開大門。

升格後仍自負盈虧
胡鴻烈接受查詢時指出,樹仁在軟件及硬件兩方面已準備就緒,資金方面亦沒有問題,預計最快可於明年轉做私立大學。胡強調,樹仁即使在升格後亦不會申請加入大學育資助委員會。他說︰「樹仁會一如既往以自負盈虧的方式運作,不需要政府資助,希望社會各界可以多提供資助。」

規模媲美外國私大
於一九七一年創校的樹仁書院,現時共有文學院、商學院及社會學院共十三個學系。樹仁在一九七八年拒絕遵從政府「四改三」的建議而捨棄了政府資助,學校的發展亦因此受到一定的影響,但胡鴻烈指出,當局推行「三三四」學制後,全港大學都要在二○一二/一三學年行回頭路,將學士課程由三年改為四年,證明樹仁當年的決定沒有錯。

自本港多間大專院校成功升格後(如前浸會學院),胡鴻烈多年來仍堅持將樹仁升格的「大學夢」。近十年他積極為樹仁升格大學鋪路,逐步提升學校的硬件設施,昨天正式啟用的樹仁宿舍文康大樓共有三十層,可以為六百名學生及一百名職員提供住宿服務,連同校內的其他設施,規模已足夠媲美外國的小型私立大學。
