『畀人擺上檯』 is a very 地道 Cantonese.
But thinking deeply, it means people have betrayed you.
Not that I could have came up with, some english just can't replace Chinese, esp. those Cantonese slangs. Just like the chinese [the sky] has implied the Gods above us, in English sky= sky....
Just best guess for this point: betray/ betrayal?
