Gavotta 嘉禾舞曲源於十七世紀巴洛克時期很重要的一種曲式-- 組曲 Suite, 當時的組曲有Prelude前奏曲, Allemande 阿勒曼舞曲, Courante 庫朗舞曲 , Sarabande 薩拉邦舞曲, Intermezzi 間奏曲 和Gigue 基格舞曲, Intermezzi中又可包括二至四首舞曲,分別是Minuet 小步舞曲, Gavotta嘉禾舞曲或者其他類型舞曲, 視乎作曲家的喜好
