I am addicted to pickles, I have a jar in my purse right now. I eat a jar and chug the juice in one sitting. Are there any risks associated with eating too much pickles, or too much salt?

pickles, not really. Salt, yes! Water retention leading to facial and ankle swelling is a start. Can cause high blood pressure and kidney damage by making them try to work too hard to get rid of it all. HOWEVER, almost all Americans eat WAY too much salt so I would ask your family doc next time you see them if you personally are at risk.
Salt is an acquired taste. Pickles are taken in communities where food normally cooked by them is bland for considerations of children/sick in the family. The pickles are taken to add a little spice for those not falling in the said category. So long as ur blood pressure is normal and ur total salt intake also normal, as indicated by ur blood pressure, u can consume Sodium Salt to ur satisfaction. But be moderate so that u do not feel the pinch when the doc asks u to cut down on salt. One way out is to use K-salt for making ur pickles.
If your sodium intake is high, you will have bloating and swelling. You will also find it difficult to concentrate. Your most serious effect will be elevation of your blood pressure. This can be serious (like a STROKE). Ween yourself off of the high sodium food. You will feel so much better.
To much salt is dangerous, not healthy, and can damage organs in your body. Usually when a patient has heart, weight, artery, vain, stroke, kidney, liver, etc. problems, the first thing a doctor will tell you is cut the SALT!
I have inner ear problems. First on the list was salt, alcohol, and tobacco. That says a lot on those three.
So curb your desire (habit) for those salty pickles. At least get the ones without salt.

Hi,I love pickles too,however mine are home made and you would probably kill for them.They are real deli type.Anyway table salt which is sodium chloride is made for industrial use.Over time it has been used for human consumption because it's cheap.Before- people used sea salt which has a different chemical make up and is good for you.Sodium chloride(table salt) will raise your blood pressure and cause many other problems.Stick to natural low salt deli pickles.For home use I would suggest you get real sea salt at a health food store.

uh yeah. i love pickles to but that i have to admit is a little wierd. umm to much will make you dehydrated you should drink lots of water and you will also sweat an incredible amount of sweat to get rid of the salt in your blood stream
I've heard that you might start to have blood in the urine if you eat too much in one serving/sitting, just like if you get hit in the liver area.
I love salt myself.
