You didn't say where you want to fly from West Coast. But if you're going to Atlanta, most likely your choices will be limited to :

. Delta : Atlanta is their hub, offers multiple non-stop flights daily from West coast cities to Atlanta. It's a "full service" airlines, but still have no meal. They do show movies on the flight,but you need to bring your own headset.

. AirTran: Also has Atlanta as their hub. Not as many flights as Delta. Haven't really used it but I've been told they are pretty good.

. US Airways: Flights to Atlanta were used to be "America West". Not really that good... especially after their merger. Will most likely need to transit at Phoenix or Las Vegas

. Southwest, AA, UA : limited direct flights to Altanta from West Coast.

you can make reservation online , less than 10 mins and not to forget to note down your reservation codes or just save a copy of the itinery and the e-tickets.

i suggest to fly JET BLUE 1) Inexpensive 2) Comfy flights

if your looking for something cheap , try SOUTHWEST.

There are number of methods to order US domestic tickets. First if you haven't booked your international air ticket, you can ask your airlines if they can help you to order one, but normally expensive. So I would prefer browsing the web page to find the cheapest ticket.

What I think the best domestic airlines in the US are the low cost airlines becasue they offer cheap fare and very on time departure compare to large airlines. They also have more flights to offer and the prices are in one way direction.

Low cost airlines: offer snacks, sometimes PTV, excellent service.
Large airlines: a good connection to international flights, no meals, you can book in HK with expensive price.

Jetblue Airways - PTV offres on all flights (E190 and A320). Very good comments on Skytrax. Seat very large. Friendly FAs. Voted the best airlines in the US.

Others:
Midwest - PTV offers.
Frontier - PTV offers.
Virgin America - the company will start its first flight in the first season of 2007.
