A Christian missionary called Valentine disobeyed the law by secretly marrying a woman. Afterwards, the Emperor discovered the incident, and told him that if he could leave the Christian Church and convert to believing the Roman God he would be spared. However, Valentine was adamant. At last he was sentenced to death and beheaded on the February 14th, 270. To commerate, the posterity decided to make the 14th of February every year the Valentine's Day.
